Open-topped, two seat roadsters have always occupied a special place in the sports automobile field. In past years, the BMW firm of Germany did not produce many roadsters, yet those few examples they did make were epoch-making for the era, and in a class of their own. In 1995, BMW introduced their roadster, and it successfully harmonizes the traditional tasted of open two-seaters, while combined with BMW's latest automotive achievements. The classic, long nose and short deck style of the Z3 is beautifully proportioned, blending the tradition and avant garde, while the BMW touch sets the Z3 apart from any other two-seater on the market. The unmistakable kidney shaped grille and menacing looking headlights make up the front view. Its characteristic side gills are patterned from their classic 507 roadster, and the manually operated cloth top complements its overall styling either opened or closed. Under the long and wide hood lies the 1895cc, 16 valve straight four cylinder DOHC 138bhp engine, which comes standard. Proven front MacPherson struts and rear semitrailing arm suspension ensures excellent road holding and driving comfort. The power-assisted rack and pinion steering provides accurate road feel for precise driver inputs at all speeds. Interior upholstery is tastefully appointed in the traditional BMW manner, and dual air bags for the driver and passenger are standard. This state of the art roadster is produced in BMW's new factory in New Jersey, U.S.A. for sports car enthusiasts the world over.
