History of full size car: Since the team's founding in 1978, Joest Racing has achieved numerous successes in motorsport. The team was notable for campaigning Porsche racing cars in the 1980s, one of which was the Porsche 956 that was entered in the 1984 24 Hours of Le Mans. This car was powered by Porsche's traditional 6-cylinder boxer DOHC 4-valve turbocharged engine which put out over 600hp. The cowlings featured prominent New Man sponsor markings and a distinctive yellow, black, and white livery. The car went on to claim overall victory at Le Mans that year as well as in the subsequent year.
