The 6-pounder anti-tank gun was developed by the British Army during WWII due to the need to replace their earlier, inadequate anti-tank weapons. This 57mm weapon had an effective range of 5,000m and a maximum range of 10,000m. It could fire both high-explosive and armor-piercing shells with a muzzle velocity of 815m/s. The gun was mounted on a two-wheeled split trail carriage and was often towed by Universal Carriers. It first saw action in the deserts of the North African front and proved capable of knocking out even the heavily armored Tiger I tank. The Tamiya 1/35 scale model is a faithful replica model kit that was originally introduced in 1970.
