This is the first motorcycle model in the iconic Tamiya 1/12 Motorcycle Series. It was originally released in 1981. Yamaha has a long and proud history in motorcycle racing which dates back to 1961, and really gained momentum with their first 500cc class Manufacturers' Championship in 1973. The YZR500 was another World Champion bike, which was in racing service in various guises between 1973 and 2002. It took legend Kenny Roberts to the title in 1980. It was powered by a 498cc engine with piston ported induction system and variable geometry exhaust. The Tamiya model faithfully captures all the details from this iconic racer in 1/12 scale and remains faithful to the original 1981 release. • 1/12 scale plastic model assembly kit.
