GERMAN SCHWIMMWAGEN TYPE 166 (WIDE WHEEL VERSION)

The trusty Schwimmwagen served WWII German forces with distinction, taking on tricky off-road surfaces and even water obstacles in style. It had a welded sheet metal monocoque body and a 1,130 cc, 25 hp air-cooled 4-cylinder engine that it could get 80 km/h out of on land, and 10 km/h in the water. When fitted with wide wheels, it was even more capable off-road, and some Schwimmwagens even had MG34 machine guns. Between the end of 1942 and Fall 1944, some 14,000 Schwimmwagens rolled off the production lines, and they were sent to a variety of locations with a range of briefs, from pioneer units to Fallschirmjager paratroopers. Its superlative adaptability made it a vital cog in the German war effort. This is a 1/35 scale plastic model assembly kit.
